The famous Mughal Gardens is at Srinagar the capital of the state. There are also a number of Mosques and temples around Srinagar. To enjoy Kashmir, may be you have to go to the valley in fact. One can set to trekking from Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg. Jammu is the second largest town in the state. It is 290 km away from Srinagar. Siachen glacier is the largest glacier. Leh, Gulmarg, Ladakh, and Pahalgam are places of importance to be visited. Srinagar is 1730 km above the sea level. Pahalgarm has many popular resorts. Gulmarg is 2730 metres above the sea level and it is 56kilometers from Srinagar. Sonamarg is 3000 Kilometers above sea level is 87 kilometers from Srinagar. Ladakh is ethereal, scintillating landscape, so baffling and surprising. This has been also called the last Shan-gri-la. During June Agusut the temperature is 25 degree Celsius to 35. Woolen dressing may be needed in Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg in the evening hours. During March May and October November it is cold. The minimum temperature plunges to somewhere 7 degree Celsius.
In December the temperature dips to 10oC. Woolen is a must. Ladakh follows budhism. Mubarak Mangi Palace. Built in 1824. This blends Rajasthani and Mughal style of architecture. Sheesh Mahal is impressive. Dogra Art Museum is famous. The complex has been built on the banks of the river Tawi.The Raghunath Temple complex is also a pilgrim destination. This was built in 1851 by Maharaja Gulab Singh. The temple contains images of Lord Vishnu in various incarnations. Ancient texts and manuscripts are found in here. Vaishno Devi and Amarnath Cave are holy to Hindus.
