Archeological Museum and Portrait Gallery, Old Goa

Archeological Museum and Portrait Gallery, Old Goa is an institution maintained by The Archeological Survey Department, Government of India. Former Franciscan monastery has been converted into a Museum in 1964. Pre-colonial and Post colonial artifacts have been maintained here. The stature of Alfonso de Albuquerque that stands at the entrance once stood in Old Goa. After liberation this was taken to museum.
The "Key Gallery" contains with other things the statue of the famous Goan Poet Luis Cameos, holding his "Os Lusiadas". This statue also has been brought here after liberation. The Portrait Gallery has over sixty paintings mostly of Goan Governors and Viceroys. This includes, Dom Vasco da Gama, Dom Joao de Castro, Bernado Peres de Silva, Jose Ferreira de Pestano. Portrait of the Portuguese dictator Antonio Salazar is also here.
The "Sculpture Gallery" contains artifacts from the pre-colonial times. The stone pillar brought from San Thome, Madras, the site of martyrdom of St. Thomas, is maintained here. There are a number of artifacts from the Kadamba period.

Basilica de Born Jesus

Mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier have been maintained here in Basilica de Born Jesus.

Museum of Goa Daman & Diu

Archeological and archinval material could be seen here. Artifacts from the various Hindu Dynasty have been exhibited. Coins, furniture, ivory statues of Portuguese period are also displayed.

Institure Menezes Braganza

Bronze, terracotta and stone sculptures are on display. Also coins, stamps, paintings, etchings, and drawings have been exhibited.

The Naval Aviation Museum

The Naval Aviation Museum is situated at Dabolim in Goa. It is the first naval museum in Asia and has been opened in 1998. The exhibits include articles of Indian naval aviation, weapons, sensors, safety instruments, portraits etc.
